Audible Devices - Back-Up or Motion Alarms:
The audible devices such as motion alarms or back-up alarms produce sound that has to be loud enough in order to be heard above the noise which the forklift makes in the operating place.
The sound has to be readily distinguishable from other audible devices or noises within the work environment. Sound must be readily discernible from other sound or audible devices within the work place. The audible device could employee noise exposure and end up contribute to OSHA noise limitation; thus, care should be taken.
Determine the distance and direction the sound of the audible device is made more difficult due to the use of hearing protection. Audible devices can occasionally get disabled from both operators and workers because they could find them irritating. In addition, audible devices can also be objectionable to nearby residents.
