Manitou LP Forklift

Manitou LP Forklift

Lift trucks function by carrying their load on tines which are located in front of the carrier. These tines point outwards, away from the cab of the machinery. The cargo could sometimes obstruct the operator's field of vision. For this particular situation, lift trucks have rear control steering to allow the unit to be driven backwards whilst lifting a load.

The burden of the machines load is extensively on the front wheels. The pair of forks stick out from the front of the forklift. These forks could be raised and lowered. Additionally, the forks are capable of being tilted downwards and upwards as per the requirement.

The forklifts movements are the result of hydraulic cylinders that apply pressure on the bar which slackens or pulls the roller chains. Once a lift truck is loaded, the front wheels take on all of the weight. The counterweight on board would balance the forklift's weight. This is really important or else the equipment would tip over.

Why use Propane for Lift trucks?

Propane forklifts have on-board tanks which hold the propane fuel. These tanks have enough propane gas to enable the equipment to operate around 8 hours. If empty, these tanks could be removed easily and taken to a facility to be refilled or replaced.

In the case of CNG-powered forklifts, it is important to note and consider that replenishing CNG consumes more time. LPG or Liquid Propane Gas will work at lower temperatures compared to CNG. In case of electric-powered forklifts, it is necessary to allow the batteries time to cool down and then to recharge. This procedure could take around 8 to 9 hours. When charged, the batteries last approximately 3 to 6 hours, depending on how the machine is utilized and the heaviness of the loads being handled. Like for instance, a 33 lb. steel tank can hold approximately 8 gallons of propane; this amount of fuel must be enough to finish a task and probably a lot more.

There are many different forklifts and fuel sources to run various units. It is best to know the kind of working environment you will be operating in, whether indoors or outdoors, as well as the specific applications you will be utilizing the machinery for. When you take time to know the specifics of your particular needs, you can choose a forklift which will fulfill its tasks and provide you with maximum efficiency.
