Various Classes of Aerial Lift
A specialized type of heavy machine that allows an individual to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are usually utilized to complete repairs on areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Like nearly all tools, there are different types of aerial lifts which could be used to perform different jobs. For the utmost safety, each kind of different type of equipment requires proper training and specific qualifications before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mostly used for indoor applications. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts could be driven like big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they could not be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these tools, employees should be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a a lot more complex kind of aerial lift machinery compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift usually has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which allows the operator to raise and lower the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side as well. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate compared to scissor lifts, therefore, operators should be licensed separately for these types of lifts.
