Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
